Our Mollie Wins a Writing Award
Mollie, one of our Weekend Team members is recognised by her school for exceptional writing.
If you are a regular weekend visitor to Mocha you may recognise Mollie. Take note of this face, she is a future talent and has been recognised as such at her school for her writing skills. Risedale School made this announcement today:
Huge congratulations to Year 11 pupil, Mollie Thirlwell, who has been recognised for her exceptional writing skills and has recently received a Certificate of Merit Award in the nationwide Young Writers' Annual Showcase.
Mollie's submission, a poignant poem titled "Serpent Silhouette," explored themes of heartbreak and self-discovery after betrayal. Her teacher, Miss Douglas, praised Mollie's courage and talent, stating, "I'm so proud of her for sharing such a personal piece."
Upon receiving the award, Mollie expressed her excitement. "This is a dream come true," she said. "I've always aspired to be a published author, and this recognition is a huge step in that direction."
The Young Writers' Annual Showcase is a prestigious competition that celebrates the creativity and talent of young writers across the country. Mollie's achievement is a testament to her dedication and potential.
