Last night, I was delighted to be invited to the preview evening of the Yorkshire Museum’s latest exhibition, Chariots, Treasure & Power – Secrets of the Melsonby Hoard.

The exhibition showcases the extraordinary discovery of the largest hoard of Iron Age metalwork ever found in the United Kingdom — a remarkable collection that offers a fascinating glimpse into Britain’s ancient past.

For me, the evening felt especially personal. Not only do I live in Melsonby and have been involved in the community engagement side of the project, but through sales of our Melsonby Hoard chocolate boxes, we’ve also been helping to raise funds in support of the campaign. So, to discover that Mocha is featured within the exhibition itself was incredibly exciting and something we are very proud of.

It was also wonderful to see work by Helen Whitten included within the community exhibition. Helen has previously exhibited her artwork at our Aske café and, like me, is proudly from Melsonby.

If you have the opportunity, I would highly recommend a visit. The Yorkshire Museum is set within the beautiful Museum Gardens in the heart of York, making it the perfect day out for anyone interested in history, archaeology or Yorkshire heritage.
