A Box of Nostalgia

Read about our new box of chocolates, inspired by nostalgia....

My mum loved a certain box of chocolates that you can't buy any longer.  It was called Week-End and was made by Mackintosh (before they merged with Rowntree).  She loved the fact that there was such a variety of centres and it contained her absolute favourite - a cherry cup in dark chocolate.

Seventies Time Machine UK on X: "Who remembers Mackintosh's ...

She told me it was the gift dad gave her on their very first date when taking her to a matinee performance at the pictures in Sheffield in 1957. And goodness me - the adverts for Week-End even had her heart throb Matt Monro singing the jingle!

It was the chocolate box my brother and I gave her on her birthday, Mother's Day etc until you just couldn't get it anymore.  Apparently Nestle contined to manufacture it after taking over Rowntree Mackintosh in 1988. It was discontinued in 2007 but reintroduced a year later. It had a revival but after sales fell it was discontinued once again in 2019.

Well the time has come to recreate that magic!

We have selected the best Yorkshire fudge, chocolate covered Brazil nuts, nougat, pate de fruit, Turkish Delight, marzipan flowers and some specialty selected Mocha chocolates (including our Cherry in Kirsch!) - mum would absolutely love it!

We're calling it Something for the Weekend as a nod to the classic box of chocolate & candies but as I'm sure you will see, we have made it our own and I'd love to hear what you think to it
