Turkish Delight also known as lokum has been a beloved treat for centuries. Legend has it that it was invented in the Ottoman empire in the 1700s by a Turkish confectioner named Bekir Effendi. It has a unique texture, soft and chewy with a delicate dusting of icing sugar.
Turkish Delight is also commonly enjoyed in Cyprus, where it is called Cypriot Delight and there are many different flavours of Turkish Delight manufactured, from the classic flavours we use to more exotic varieties like pistachio, hazelnut, caramel and cinnamon.
It has been so loved that it has inspired famous works of literature? C.S. Lewis even made it a pivotal element in his book, “The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe” and described it as “easily the most magical of all candies.” If it’s good enough for Lewis’s Narnian characters, we’re sure you’ll find it irresistible too!
Our luxurious Turkish Delight is hand-crafted in a traditional Turkish way, and we’re proud to say that it does not contain gelatine, making the dark chocolate variety vegan-friendly.
We offer six delightful flavours in our gift box collection: rose, lemon, pomegranate, orange, apple and sour cherry. Our rose and orange flavours are coated with creamy milk chocolate, while our lemon and sour cherry flavours are coated with rich dark chocolate and our new apple flavour, along with pomegranate is coated with luscious white chocolate.
